Follow Friday and why you should go careful

Alot has been written about [tag]Follow Friday[/tag]or #ff or #followfriday in [tag]Twitter[/tag] speak and how its great to get new friends, pass a favour et al so here is my take on it, but first the basics.

Follow Friday has become one of THE most popular actions on Twitter, it simply gives you the user the ability to recommend names of some people they want to follow and they finish it with the #followfriday [tag]hashtag[/tag]. As such it is a great way to find some new people to follow who might be relevant to you or part of your wider social circle.

So the question i am often asked is how should i tweet my follow friday, well i think there is a clear right way and a clear wrong way. Lets says you want to recommend me @alpenwest, you may Tweet something along the lines of

#followfriday @alpenwest – Great Blog for online business development, with an Exeter twist, spoken from a personal level

As apposed to a blanket,
#followfriday and then you just have a list of names

Example one gives me a reader a clear reason for visiting and following that person, example two i would try and avoid.

Tell me what do you do on FollowFriday and what has the best results?

And while you at it Tweet my followfriday,
