After 17 years in existence we are now beginning to see the new look eBay with new features supposedly to make the shopping experience on eBay easier, more enjoyable and personal. Ebay know so much about all its customers, how we use the site, what we buy, our average spend and couple this with our personal details and they have their own little ‘goldmine’. There can be no doubt that this has led to the raft of new looks and updates we are seeing now to make the site more friendly and mobile compatible.
So what has changed you may ask?
new eBay Logo
The starting point has to be the new logo, gone is the curvier look to be replaced with a far more type faced standard look. The jury is out on whether this is any better or for that matter will make any difference, one thing though we can be sure of is that its just the starting point for a raft of new changes and updates to come.
A new look and feel for eBay
With the changes to the logo it should come as no surprise that eBay are looking at rolling out a more universal experience across any eBay site you visit and on any device you visit it with. So expect over the next few months numerous a cleaner look and a more consistent look across mobiles, tablets etc. This will allow everybody a better shopping experience (eBay’s words) and will make it easier to find what you want quicker!
And a new home page
Yes eBay are rolling out a new look homepage which is supposedly going to give any shopper a more personalised experience, so if you have an account be aware that next time you head over to ebay it will show similar and recommend items – worth remembering if you browse for gifts etc… I understand you will be able to tailor this home page look just for you, similar to the iGoogle home page. This all starts on .com first and is then rolled out to the other sites over the coming months, so don’t be surprised when you next go to eBay and think it has all changed.
So not just a new logo, a new eBay
Many thought we would just see a new logo and that would be all, well eBay has surprised many with basically a whole new look and feel for the site, simplifying and supporting the buying and selling process and making the actual experience of buying on eBay relevant to the actual user on whatever device they browse the site on – surely this has to be a good thing doesn’t it?
