‘Stumble what you say, Stumbleupon its a website really cool does lots of great stuff’

Lots of people make comments like that, yet deep down with so many social websites out there, Stumbleupon, Digg, Facebook et al which one is best and how do i get started. In this post i shall concentrate on Stumbleupon to get you started.

Firstly Stumbleupon, what is it?
Simply Stumbleupon is a site where you can bookmark your favourite sites on the internet. You can either give them a ‘thumbs up’ for the good or ‘thumbs down’ for the bad, geek speak has it that the thumbs up have been ‘stumbled’.

How do i Stumble a site i like then?
Well first thing to do is create an account, don’t worry its free, then i would recommned downloading the tool bar (makes the follow on alot easier). Then create your profile, its where you add more info about you, its means anyone Stumbling one of your stumble’s has a bit of background about you. Then on the tool bar you have a thumbs up or down when you get a site you like, make a choice. You can quick stumble OR add a bit more info about the site you have found.

Another way is where a site invites you to submit their site through buttons on it, at the foot of this post you will see a line bookmark with, just click on the social site, in this instance the Stumbleupon logo and off you go.

So why should i Stumble any sites?
The idea is that enough people Stumble sites they like so they gain more traffic. Like most social web sites the whole process works on a mutual basis, so the top Stumblers who Stumble lots of content get lots of friends who value there Stumbles.

That is how to start on Stumbleupon, so why not Stumble this post now, add me as a friend alpenwest and enjoy.
