Not just one audition. She made it to the final and actually made second place. This means she had a sustained publicity run and was also pushed a lot in the states by celebrities like Oprah. She has learning difficulties due to being briefly deprived of oxygen during birth, yet has a great talent. It’s a dichotomy that Americans lap up, especially when someone like Oprah pushes it. Also, Cowl has a lot of time and money invested in her and will continue to push her. so really, saying her popularity is all her talent, and based on one appearance is inaccurate. She is a pawn of a well oiled publicity machine. And also, worth mentioning, is that actually, she has one of the top 5 viewed videos on youtube with not 33, but an incredible 186 million views. In less than a month (yup, thats right).
